Dr. Fred Gomalak, a distinguished veterinarian, embarked on his journey in the world of veterinary medicine when he graduated from the prestigious University of Edinburgh in 2017. His unwavering passion for animals and a thirst for innovation set him on a remarkable path in the field.

Early in his career, Dr. Gromalak's fascination with ultrasound technology ignited. Within a mere six months of entering the veterinary profession, he took a bold step and initiated a mobile ultrasound service in Southern Wisconsin. Today, this visionary endeavor has flourished into a network of five remote locations, serving the needs of over 250 veterinary clinics. Dr. Gromalak's commitment to excellence in diagnostic imaging has revolutionized animal healthcare in the region.

Dr. Rachel Baumgardner is a Michigan native, who completed veterinary school at Michigan State University, an internship in food animal medicine at Washington State University, and completed a residency in Diagnostic Imaging at University of Missouri. Rachel has a keen interest in respiratory imaging and is completing their Master's work on the subject of interstitial patterns in dogs. When not reading and interpreting images, Rachel enjoys gardening, especially re-wilding lawn spaces, and riding her Arabian mare, Ziva. She has three cats (Astro, Amelie, and Alucard) and someday would like to own a hobby farm including poultry, goats, and sheep.
Micah Bishop
DVM, PhD, DACVIM (Internal Medicine)
Dr. Micah Bishop, a Small Animal Internal Medicine specialist since 2014, has focused on ultrasound and IM consulting since 2017, including five years with Antech Imaging Services. Passionate about delivering pragmatic clinical insights, he also performs echocardiography to address local needs in Naples, Florida.
Dr. Bishop, his wife (a GP vet), and their daughter enjoy the subtropical outdoors. On their 1.2-acre farm, he cultivates tropical fruits and raises poultry, aiming for self-sustainability.
Jennifer Clooten
DVM, DVSc, DACVIM (Internal Medicine)
Dr. Jennifer Clooten is a board-certified veterinary internist with over 20 years of clinical experience in small animal internal medicine. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Great Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1999, followed by an internship and residency at the Ontario Veterinary College, where her research focused on Clostridium difficile in dogs. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2003.
Throughout her career, Dr. Clooten has served as a staff internist at leading specialty and referral hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, including MedVet (MI), VCA Vancouver Animal Emergency & Referral Centre (BC), Oakland Veterinary Referral Services (MI), Sage Veterinary Specialists (CA), and Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists (FL). She has also contributed to the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) as a consultant in respiratory medicine since 2009.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Clooten has published research on infectious disease and neuromuscular disorders and has lectured extensively on topics such as respiratory disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and critical care. She is an active member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the Veterinary Comparative Respiratory Society, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Laura Cousins
DVM, MS, DACVIM (Internal Medicine)
Dr. Cousins earned her DVM from Texas A&M University in 2001, followed by a year-long internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Washington State University. She completed a three-year residency in internal medicine and a Master of Science in infectious disease at the University of Georgia by 2005. Now based in Upstate, she specializes in cardiac conditions, ultrasound techniques, immune-mediated diseases, and chronic kidney disease at Upstate Vet. Outside the clinic, Dr. Cousins enjoys spending time with family, reading, and exploring the art of culinary innovations.
THOMAS DAY
DVM, MS, DACVAA, DACVECC, CVA, Cert IVUSS (Criticalist, Anesthesiology)
Dr. Tom Day earned his BS (1983), DVM (1988), and MS (1992) from Ohio State University. Board-certified in veterinary anesthesiology (1992) and emergency and critical care (1998), he is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist (2008) and holds certification from the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society (2023). With over 25 years of imaging experience, he specializes in renal imaging for azotemic dogs and cats and echocardiography for both primary cardiac disorders and systemic diseases. Outside work, Dr. Day enjoys time with his wife and daughters and competing in long-distance triathlons.
Jack Hamersky
DVM, MS, DACVR (Radiology)
Dr. Jack Hamersky, DVM, MS, DACVR is a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist and Assistant Professor at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. A former emergency veterinarian, he is passionate about education and public health advocacy, with a focus on integrating public health principles into veterinary imaging.
Dr. Hamersky is committed to advancing diagnostic imaging practices through educational excellence, working to enhance veterinary practices and improve patient care through innovative imaging techniques and research.
Dalal Hares
DVM, DACVR (Radiology)
Dr. Hares obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2016. She completed both a small animal rotating internship and a small animal surgery internship at small animal speciality private practices following graduation. Dr. Hares then worked as a small animal emergency veterinarian for 5 years in multiple small animal specialty private practices in the Tampa Bay area. During her work as an emergency veterinarian, she received advanced training in ultrasound and found her passion for diagnostic imaging. In 2025, she completed a residency in diagnostic imaging at Vitalrads Veterinary Imaging Specialists. She is excited to now call the west coast home.
Greg Kuhlman
DVM, DACVIM (Internal Medicine)
Dr. Greg Kuhlman earned his DVM from the University of Wisconsin in 2009, followed by an internship at VCA Animal Emergency and Referral Center and an internal medicine residency at Texas A&M. He specializes in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, immune-mediated, and infectious diseases, with a passion for sporting dog health. An avid competitor, breeder, and judge in English Springer Spaniel field trials since 1999, he blends veterinary expertise with hands-on experience. Outside of work, he enjoys upland hunting, fly fishing, and Ironman triathlons, and is a dedicated fan of the Packers, Bucks, and Wisconsin Badgers.
Nekesa Morey
BVM&S, MRCVS, MS, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Morey, originally from Nairobi, Kenya, earned her veterinary degree at the University of Edinburgh. After completing a rotating internship in Denver and a cardiology specialty internship in Seattle, she completed her cardiology residency in Columbia, Missouri, achieving board certification in 2023. Currently, she works in the cardiology department at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Outside of work, Nekesa enjoys walking, hiking, biking with her partner, Paul, and cooking for friends and family.

Dr. Oliveira earned her Veterinary Medicine Degree in Brazil in 2001 and moved to USA in 2007 to advance her skills and become a radiologist. She did an internship at Lousianna State University, an internship and master program at University of Illinois and a residency at University of Wisconsin. Upon finishing her residency, she became board certified in 2015 and worked as a faculty at the University of Wisconsin, the University of Florida and remote faculty at the University of Illinois. She has been providing Imaging Consultation to various teleradiology companies since 2017 and is passionate about helping clinicians make a diagnosis and give the best treatment to their patients. On her spare time, she likes to be around her husband, two sons, and a dog named Emma Rye (MRI).
Brittany Stewart

Dr. Brittany Stewart, an ACVIM boarded veterinary cardiologist, joined the SVS Imaging team in 2024. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Minnesota. Following a small animal rotating internship at Ohio State University, Dr. Stewart completed a three-year cardiology residency at the University of Minnesota. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her cats, painting and practicing yoga.

Sarah joined SVS Imaging in 2019, bringing extensive experience in veterinary medicine and a passion for ultrasonography. A 2002 graduate of the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology, she also earned a Certificate in Practice Management from Purdue University in 2014 and became an SDEP-certified sonographer in 2020. With a background spanning general practice, dentistry, ophthalmology, pathology, and emergency medicine, Sarah thrives in fast-paced environments. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, fishing, and archery. She lives in the Quad Cities with her two daughters, several cats, and two dogs, Gus and Mini.

Jen is a dedicated veterinary professional with over 20 years of experience in emergency, specialty, and general practice medicine. A graduate of the Veterinary Technology program at Maple Woods in 2008, she honed her skills in anesthesia, ICU, and ultrasound while working in Mission, Kansas, and later at Kansas State Veterinary Health Center. In 2021, Jen attended The Academy of Veterinary Imaging, solidifying her passion for veterinary sonography. Based in Kansas City, she enjoys traveling, camping, and cheering on local sports teams alongside her husband, Steve, and their beloved pets—Jasper, Josie, Rusty, and Dexter.

Erika joined SVS Imaging in 2024 as a clinical sonographer after a successful 15-year career with a veterinary distribution company. Her experience in veterinary imaging sales sparked her passion for sonography, building on a foundation that began as a kennel attendant, progressed to veterinary assistant, and culminated in her certification as a CVT. Erika is dedicated to advancing in-clinic diagnostic imaging, partnering with veterinary teams to make cutting-edge care more accessible. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband, son, and animals on their farmette, along with paddlesports, camping, and habitat management.

Kim joined SVS Imaging in 2020, bringing over 25 years of experience as a specialty veterinary technician in radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, and surgery. She graduated from the Technical School of Medicine in Naperville, Illinois, in 2004 as a human sonographer specializing in vascular and general ultrasound. Combining her passion for ultrasound and veterinary medicine, Kim spent six years traveling nationwide to train veterinarians in abdominal scanning techniques. She lives in Walworth, Wisconsin, with her husband and two dogs, Jaxon and Bear—her loyal ultrasound training companion.

Clinical Sonographer
Tom joined SVS Imaging in 2022, bringing over 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Tampa in 2004 and advanced from kennel attendant to veterinary sonographer. Before SVS, Tom spent 17 years at the largest VCA specialty hospital in the Midwest as the lead diagnostic imaging technician, specializing in radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Passionate about training, he traveled nationally to develop imaging protocols. Outside work, Tom enjoys time with his wife, two kids, two dogs, and two cats, and competes in powerlifting.
Kathy Nelson
Imaging Scheduling Specialist
Kathy Nelson brings over 25 years of experience in veterinary medicine, having worked as both a veterinary technician and front office team member at an animal hospital in Illinois. In her role as scheduler at The COVE Outpatient Imaging in Waukesha, she draws on her extensive background to provide compassionate, organized, and efficient support to both pet owners and referring clinics.
Outside of work, Kathy and her boyfriend share their home with three spirited Chihuahuas who actively compete in K9 Nosework training and trials, as well as a beloved cat. A passionate wildlife rehabilitator, Kathy cares for and releases baby squirrels on their property—and delights in seeing new generations return.
She enjoys spending her free time boating, traveling, and cooking. A lifelong fan of 80’s music, Kathy especially loves Rick Springfield and even had the chance to meet him at a concert—an experience she’ll never forget.

Chaley, a licensed veterinary technician with 17 years of experience in small animal practice, began her career after earning her Veterinary Technology degree in Washington State. Known for her resilience and adaptability, she’s been a vital part of the Jackson, Michigan veterinary community, excelling in anesthesia, dental procedures, imaging, and client education. Chaley holds certifications in abdominal ultrasound (Sonopath), Fear-Free, and Cat-Friendly practices. Outside work, she enjoys reading, cooking, TRX and water aerobics, and biking along the Falling Waters Trail. At home, she’s entertained by her two cats and whatever fosters she happens to have at the time.

Amy graduated from MSU in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She spent over 15 years at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, developing a passion for ultrasound while working alongside Dr. Cheryl Rice in internal medicine. In 2018, Amy earned her certificate of proficiency in soft tissue ultrasound through WAVE, followed by a certificate in echocardiography in 2020. She is dedicated to making advanced diagnostic tools more accessible in veterinary medicine. In her free time, Amy enjoys camping near the Great Lakes with her family and caring for their many rescued animals.

Carri has been in veterinary medicine since 1998, gaining experience in roles from receptionist to technician and manager. After years in general practice, she transitioned to emergency medicine in 2011, where she discovered her passion for veterinary abdominal ultrasound. In 2015, Carri earned an Advanced Imaging Certificate from the Academy of Veterinary Imaging and has since performed hundreds of diagnostic ultrasounds. Beyond imaging, she found fulfillment guiding families through end-of-life pet care. Outside work, Carri enjoys camping, kayaking, gardening, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs, Ocho and Ludo.

Jes began her career in human medicine in 2000 before transitioning to veterinary medicine in 2003. Inspired by caring for her Sulcata Tortoise, she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2014 after earning an Associate of Applied Science from Macomb Community College. With decades of experience, Jes now thrives behind the scenes at SVS Imaging, supporting patients, clients, and her team. Outside work, she manages a homestead with her husband, Jeff, caring for hens, turtles, two dogs, and thriving gardens. She’s passionate about pollinator protection, native plants, and exploring Lake Michigan’s woods and beaches.

Raven is a Digital Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist who enjoys combining creativity and strategy to craft engaging, impactful content. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Parkside with a degree in Graphic Design, she brings a strong eye for visual storytelling and a passion for digital marketing to her work.
Outside of work, Raven enjoys reading, photography, and running a small online business as a creative outlet. She shares her home with her husband and two cats, who happily supervise her creative process.

Jess brings over a decade of comprehensive experience in the veterinary field, as both a veterinary technician and clinic manager. After a period dedicated to raising her children and gaining expertise in marketing, she is enthusiastic about her return to veterinary medicine as the Teleradiology Coordinator. Jess is looking forward to forming strong relationships with both veterinary clinics and pet owners.
In her personal time, Jess enjoys running, golfing, cooking, attending concerts, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. She is also actively involved in her community through coaching her two children in various sports.
