⏰ Please have the patient shaved prior to sonographer's arrival for abdominal scans. Not only does this speed up the process, it gives you a good idea of how the patient will do during the scan and if additional sedation is needed.

Heart: In the axillary area, find the beating heart. Shave a 3" x 3" area on the left and right side. In the xiphoid area, midline abdomen shave a 2" x 2" area.

Abdomen: Shave from the xiphoid area down to the pelvic area. Left and right side all the way to the 13th rib area. Right side intercostal window.
